StART Marin: Art Workshops for Special Housing
We are planning the end of the year's schedule for our upcoming workshops.
The plan is to increase the frequency of these series per month and expand into other facilities.
Please help us achieve these upcoming goals and donate to this organization by clicking the Purple
DONATE Button on this page. Each donation is fully tax deductible. Your support will help us build
and sustain this organization and these wonderful and important programs into the next year.
StARTMarin is dedicated to building a strong program for creativity and expression reaching more of
Marin's housing facility residents.
Thank you to everyone that helped make our pilot projects such a success. These first StART Marin
Workshop Series were held during the months of July and August 2024. Each Series featured four
workshops each, one per week for a month, lasting for approximately two hours.
The use of the recently established permanent housing facility in Marin located at 1251 S. Eliseo
Drive was a perfect testing ground for the Program.
These first Workshop Series were instructed by art instructor and educator Idie Weinsoff. Idie is an
outstanding Marin Artist and retired educator from the Marin County School System. We are currently
expanding our base of exceptional instructors.
The Workshop's art activities showcase varied media including drawing with pencil, pen and pastel,
watercolor painting, Chinese brush painting. These Workshops are designed to be non-intimidating and
above all fun.
The Mill Valley Rotary Club awarded a $2,500 Grant as seed money for this Project. The money was
used to underwrite this first series of four Workshops. RileyStreet Art Supply in San Rafael was
selected as the StART Marin primary supplier of materials and supplies. They are providing generous
support for these Workshops. The Series benefits greatly from RileyStreet's extensive high-quality
inventory, resources, and commitment to Art in Marin.
StART MARIN is providing an exciting and engaging program model for Marin County's permanent housing
developments. It is designed to open another door for Marin creativity, involvement, and quality of
life!
