StART Marin

StART Marin: Art Workshops for Special Housing

SUMMARY

In the end of 2023, The Mill Valley Rotary Club awarded a $2,500 Grant as seed money for this Project. This money will be used to underwrite the first series of four Workshops. These will be documented and will provide promotional and fundraising materials for future Workshops. A recently established housing facility in Marin has been selected as the recipient site for this Series. It is located at 1251 S. Eliseo Drive and is a 43-unit permanent housing development in Larkspur, CA. The first Workshop Series will be built around a series of four workshops, one per week consisting of two hours each.

This Workshop Series will be instructed by a highly qualified Art Educator. This educator will be selected from an exceptional pool of retired Marin County art teachers, all with considerable experience in the field. The Workshop's art activities will include drawing with pencil, pen and pastel, watercolor painting, block printing. Should not all supplies be consumed after the first four workshops, an inventory of remaining supplies would be available for subsequent workshops. There may be an art showing to follow, based upon the results.

START MARIN will be an exciting and engaging program model for Marin's permanent housing developments. It is designed to open another door for Marin's creativity and involvement!
